  Theft Prevention Information
If you choose to order your books elsewhere,
here are a few things you should be aware of:

Textbooks are a very expensive and necessary component of a college education.  It is important to take steps to protect your investment.  Here are some ways you can help prevent lose.

1) Be sure that you are ordering the correct
edition including any CD's or other components
2) Investigate to see if the book is the printed version or an ebook.
3) Watch the shipping costs, especially if you have to return anything (return shipping expenses)
4) Check their delivery procedures and estimated time for shipping.
5) Pay close attention to their returns policy;
especially time allowed, if returns are accepted.

  • MARK YOUR TEXTBOOKS. If your book is used, mark it immediately; if it's new, be sure you plan to keep it before writing in it, or you will not be able to return it as a new book during the refund period.  Pick the same page in your books and use the same mark in all.  Use something you won't or shouldn't forget, like mom's birthday.

  • Never leave your books/bookbags unattended in a public area. If your books are in your vehicle, please keep it locked.  Your books should also be out of sight if possible.

  • If your textbooks are stolen, please contact the bookstore.  If you have marked them as requested, the bookstore will do what it can to help you recover them during book buybacks.

  • Your textbooks are your personal property.  Mayville State nor the Bookstore are not responsible for the lost or stolen books.
